As if you needed any reason to have a glass of wine and a slice of cheesecake, National Cheesecake Day is here. If nothing else this is means that this Saturday, July 30, you can shamelessly enjoy both before the weekend comes to an end. Whether you’ll be enjoying these sweets alone or with a crowd, you should know a few things about pairings before heading to the store to buy your cake and drink of choice. As we’ve all surely heard by now, the general rule of dessert – wine pairings is “wine should be slightly sweeter than the dessert it is being paired with.” With that being the case, here’s a little list of wines that are verified dessert wines, sure to make that cheesecake extraordinarily superb.
- Firestone Riesling
- Cupcake Red Velvet
- Stella Rosa Pink
- Martini and Rossi Asti Spumante
- Sutter Home Moscato
If you’re interested in learning more about what classifies a wine as a ‘dessert wine’, check out the Wine Folly’s article “5 Types of Dessert Wine” for a breakdown of your favorite wines and what will pair best with your favorite desserts (aside from cheesecake, of course.)
